LAS VEGAS, NV, September 03, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Pardee Homes, long known as a leader in green building, just got a little greener. The company, which was recently named Green Building Corporate Advocate of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), has yet another green feather in its cap.

Rob Keune, a Pardee superintendent in Southern Nevada, has been designated a Certified Green Professional (CGP) as well as Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) by the NAHB. He joins Rocky Cochran, vice president of Pardee construction operations in Las Vegas, who has held the CGB designation for ten years.

According to the NAHB certification registry, Keune and Cochran are the only CGB designees in Nevada, and Keune is the only person in Nevada with both the CGB and CGP certifications.

CGP is an exclusive designation recognizing industry professionals who incorporate green building principles into homes using cost-effective and affordable options, according to the NAHB, while CGB identifies highly experienced builders who keep themselves informed and updated on all trends and techniques in home building.

"While Pardee Homes is proud of what Rob and Rocky have accomplished, the real winners are Pardee home owners who benefit from the education and experience that these two bring to their jobs every day," said Klif Andrews, president of Pardee Homes Southern Nevada Division.

Keune and Cochran note that the Code of Ethics pledge for the designations, which includes "...to protect the consumer through the use of high quality materials and building practices backed by integrity and service," is in line with Pardee's pledge.

"It ties in well with continuing improvements in the Pardee home building and home buying processes," said Cochran. "And it helps reinforce our internal strategy, which is to be an advocate for both the customer and the builder," said Keune.

In Southern Nevada, Pardee currently offers "green" homes through its LivingSmart program at eight valley neighborhoods, including Rosetta and Serrano in Mountains Edge; Trail Ridge off of Durango and Blue Diamond/State Route 160; Ashwood in Nevada Trails; Montclaire in the Anthem area in Henderson; Riverstone in North Las Vegas; Solamar in the northwest valley and Solstice, which recently opened in Aliante.

The company's pledge to build greener began with the pioneering of EnergyStar homes in 1998 and, today, that commitment delivers the multiple benefits of Pardee's far more comprehensive--and award-winning--LivingSmart program, which debuted in Las Vegas at Vista Verde in 2003.

LivingSmart meets or exceeds local, state and national standards for green home building. It offers more than 30 included and optional green features, materials and systems that boost energy efficiency, save water, improve indoor air quality and encourage material conservation and the use of recycled or sustainable resources in new homes.

LivingSmart's energy and water savings measures alone can translate to lower home operating costs, according to Joyce Mason, vice president of marketing for Pardee Homes. "We estimate our energy-efficient homes save more than 11 million pounds of greenhouse gases annually."

To date, Pardee has built more than 10,000 energy-efficient homes in Southern California and Nevada, winning accolades from the NAHB Green Builder Awards; the PCBC Western conference Gold Nugget Awards; the EPA; and more.

One of the West's largest and longest-established home builders, Pardee has built homes for more than 40,000 families in Southern Nevada since 1952. Pardee sales office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.
