/24-7PressRelease/ - SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, June 20, 2007 - Rumors emanating from Cady Hill, the estate of well known Saratoga Springs socialite and philanthropist Mary Lou Whitney, point to her coming to the book signing at Borders on Saturday, June 23 at 2 pm for "The Knuckleball From Hell," the new acclaimed novel by author Michael Wayne. The newly released novel has been highly praised by many reviewers and is currently working its way up the New York Times bestseller list. Further rumors state that Mary Lou Whitney will be bringing some of her celebrity friends with her to the book signing.
According to Brenda Booth, the New York Post gossip columnist who primarily writes for Page Six in the New York Post, owns a summer home in Saratoga Springs, and has been a longtime observer of the Saratoga Springs social scene, "It makes complete sense that Mary Lou Whitney would attend the book signing. Mary Lou's late sister-in-law, Joan Whitney Payson, was the owner of the New York Mets from the beginning of the franchise until her death in 1975. Mary Lou is a big baseball fan, and a Mets fan. Furthermore, celebrities are attracted to celebrities, and with the buzz that "The Knuckleball From Hell"has been getting, and with the rumors circulating about the movie deal for the book, Mary Lou's attendance is only a natural."
Brenda Booth also went on to say, "What we're hearing in New York is that Mary Lou's good friend, Kathy Hilton, may also attend, along with Kathy's daughter, Paris Hilton. Paris is rumored to have been offered a role in the movie version of "The Knuckleball From Hell," so it makes sense that Paris, who will be out of jail by then and will be looking to get away from the paparazzi, would come to the book signing with her mother and Mary Lou Whitney."
Bill Tike, a Borders corporate Vice-President, refused to comment on the rumors, and would only say, "As I have said before, it is the policy of Borders not to divulge in advance what, if any, activities may occur at book signings at any of our stores."
