Parts Center staff go the extra mile
Parts Center employees in Manchester and Derby lived up to the company's motto "whatever it takes" during the recent cold snap, going above and beyond the call of duty to satisfy the needs of their customers.

    WHADDON, ENGLAND, February 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Parts Center employees in Manchester and Derby lived up to the company's motto "whatever it takes" during the recent cold snap, going above and beyond the call of duty to satisfy the needs of their customers.
The Manchester Parts Center branch had stock of more than 700 fan heaters at the beginning of January, but this had dwindled to fewer than 30 a week later because snow was making stock replenishment impossible. As a result, it looked as if the Parts Center branch was going to have to let down one of its customers.
Branch manager Mark Rizzo explains: "Our biggest customer needed over 200 fan heaters to use on various contracts where they were unable to repair the boilers. With the threat of more snow looming and the likelihood that we wouldn't receive any more deliveries the following week, we were going to struggle to fulfil the demand."
However, assistant branch manager Douglas Hingston took matters into his own hands to overcome the problem. Mark again: "He arranged for three pallets of fan heaters to be collected by courier from our Worcester distribution warehouse. The fan heaters were delivered on Friday afternoon and Douglas stayed behind to load them into the van. He then volunteered to deliver them on the Saturday, even though it should have been his day off."
Douglas and Mark made two trips to their customer's Manchester office, delivering a total of 240 fan heaters. The customer was delighted with the response and the positive "can-do" attitude of Douglas and Mark.
Another Parts Center employee, Darren Millichip, assistant manager of the Derby branch, literally went out of his way to deliver some urgently needed boiler accessories to a customer on Christmas Day.
Darren explains: "The customer wanted the parts - flues and ventilation accessories for a commercial boiler installation - on Christmas Eve. The closest branch that had the stock was in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, about 80 miles from my own branch in Derby.
"The courier failed to collect the parts because of the bad weather around that time. Luckily, I have family in Gainsborough and they collected the parts for me."
Darren went to visit the family on Christmas Day, having prearranged with the customer to drop the parts off with him in Retford, about 25 miles from Gainsborough.
Darren again: "I delivered the parts on Christmas night and the customer was able to install them on Boxing Day. He was very pleased because it meant he didn't have to let down his own customer or have the hassle of having to rearrange a visit to install the parts at a later date."
