Pass the Tostones Rellenos, por favor. Or the Toston w/caramelized apples and whipped cream. Or the Plantain Pita. Celebrate with Chef DonClark, Ambassador of Plantains, and the 44 million Hispanics living in the US during Hispanic Heritage Month starting Sept. 15th
Chef DonClark, has taken the plantain, a staple in everyday Hispanic cooking, and reinvented the fruit, in a fashion that has opened the eyes of Plantain lovers everywhere to possibilities beyond the toston, but first ... there had to be a first!

    Redesigning the Tostonera

/24-7PressRelease/ - NEW YORK, NY, August 14, 2007 - Before there could be savory and sweet toppings for the toston cups. Or the stuffed plantain pitas. Or the toston sandwiches with pernil something had to change: Chef DonClark would have to re-design the tostonera. Market available tostoneras would not only break from continued use but the ability of mashing one toston at a time hampered any toston-ination. Think of it. For a family of four, cooks average about 20 tostones per meal, all needing to be prepared ONE AT A TIME. After four years of studying the tostonera, on June 26th, 2006, Chef DonClark was issued a design patent on Tostobueno, The Ultimate Tostonera . And with that, the plantain was given a culinary life beyond the toston.

And the word of the Plantain Ambassador has been spreading ever since!

The Ambassador's eco-friendly Tostobueno can mold two, three and six cups at a time for elegant tostones rellenos (plantain cups); turn it over and the same amount of tostones (plantain chips) can be prepared at once. Once the culinary implement was created that facilitated the shaping of the plantain and shortened the prep time, the recipe possibilities became endless. (With all the experimenting, the Chef also discovered the secret to moist tostones . . . from an old Colombian woman, his muse for The ColombianoTM.

Hispanics LOVE HIM for the validation he has given their everyday home cooked food and the COMPANY for taking Hispanic Culinary Tools and Food beyond the Taco Bell Syndrome. "American marketers believe the only things Hispanics eat are tacos and burritos. Believe me it's a long way to understanding but it takes the will to Bridge the Cultural Divide ," Chef DonClark said. "I've had a great time on the other side."

And not only that -- dancing is always part of the menu! (For the dancing go to www.YouTube.com, search term PlantainMasher. And you'll see that we know how to party.)

Chef DonClark is available for National Hispanic Heritage Month food demos. For booking information please contact Annette E Alvarez 917/689.8459
