BELLEVUE, WA, January 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patrece Banks, CEO of Invisible CareGiver, will discuss Fall Prevention on the "Coping with Caregiving" Internet radio show Saturday, January 10. The program is broadcast live from 5:00-6:00 pm Central (3:00-4:00 pm Pacific), with Bank's interview at 5:30 pm Central (3:30 pm Pacific). Banks is the inventor of the award-winning Outta Bed tool, which benefits those at risk of falling by acting as a "helping hand" to assist with getting in and around a bed. In 2008, she was honored as one of the most innovative product designers in the United States.

Banks says, "After stairs/steps, bed falls are the second leading cause of fall deaths, yet the bed continues to go unaddressed. Patients have a false sense of security and products recommended are often unstable, increasing the odds of falls, injury, and even entrapment in a device."

It was during Bank's own father's illness that she became aware of the seriousness of fall prevention. Shocked by how unaddressed falls are, Banks saw firsthand how the lack of proper tools can reduce a patient's ability to remain independent in their own home.

Then in 1999 Banks was diagnosed with her own health crisis, mercury poisoning, after 18 years of numerous physicians incorrectly diagnosing her. Since her father's death in 2004, and her own heath crisis, Banks has become even more inspired to keep forging ahead to make a difference for others.

Banks writes extensively about fall prevention, bed safety, ageism, and relatively unknown devices and issues that largely go unaddressed. She says, "When people become better informed, better quality products will emerge and hopefully be recommended for fall prevention and in-home modification programs, reducing the number of people dying or being injured from bed falls."

If you miss Bank's live interview, you can listen to the online archive anytime via listening-on-demand by date and topic. The program host, Jacqueline Marcell, is an eldercare advocate, international speaker, and author of the bestselling book Elder Rage (www.ElderRage.com).
