Patricia M. Dix Honored for Excellence in Maternal-Fetal Medicine

    SPRINGFIELD, MO, February 04, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Patricia M. Dix has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in maternal-fetal medicine.

Dr. Dix has 32 years of professional experience, with 26 years as a perinatologist of CoxHealth. Throughout her career, she has migrated into high-risk pregnancy consultation. Each day, she practices maternal-fetal medicine, treating women with diabetes, birth defects, high blood pressure, rhesus disease and pre-term labor. Additionally, she offers gynecologic care at a clinic for medically uninsured patients. Dr. Dix was the only woman enrolled in the surgery program at the University of Florida. She loves to care for patients and believes that maternal-fetal medicine allows for a very special relationship with patients and their families.

Looking back, Dr. Dix attributes her success to her excellent patient care and passion for her profession. She became involved in her profession because of her interest in becoming a physician, which began at the age of 14. The most gratifying aspect of her career is helping women during childbirth.

Dr. Dix completed a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine from Wake Forest University and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology from West Virginia University. She received an MD from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Arts from Alverno College. In addition to her degrees, she is certified in obstetrics, gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine. She maintains affiliation with the Board of Directors of CoxHealth, the Missouri State Medical Association, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Medical Women's Association. In recognition of her hard work and dedication, she was presented with a Missourian of the Year Award in 2009, an Apple Pie Award in 1991 and an Alumna of the Year Award from Alverno College. In years to come, Dr. Dix hopes to continue her professional growth.
