With more than 35 years of professional excellence in medicine and academia, Dr. Stelzer currently serves as a professor of thoracic and cardiac surgery at the Mount Sinai-Icahn School of Medicine, a position he has held since 2007. At the start of his career, he was affiliated with the New York Hospital and Cornell as a faculty member. Over the years, he has lent his expertise to Lenox Hill Hospital and Beth Israel Medical Center, and honed his expertise in Ross Procedure aortic root surgery, including stentless porcine and homograft replacement aortic valve sparing root surgery.
A graduate of Columbia University and Abilene Christian University, Dr. Stelzer holds an undergraduate degree and a doctoral degree, and is certified through the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. In order to remain active and engaged in the field, he affiliates himself with the Society for Thoracic Surgeons and the American College of Cardiology.
Throughout his career, Dr. Stelzer has been recognized many times for his professional accomplishments, including having been named a Best Doctor through New York Magazine in 2009. Every year since 2000, Dr. Stelzer has also been named a Top Doctor through Castle Connolly. In the coming years, he intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
