Ms. Nurse grew up in Hawaii signing in church and playing guitar. Coming from a musical family and performing her first professional job at the age of 18 with the Don Ho Show in Waikiki, she thrived in Hawaii and internationally as a professional entertainer for 25 years. In the mid 1990's, she became interested in colored stones and for the next 11 years had a retail bead and jewelry outlet called Starseed Beads & Gems where she sold her one-of-a-kind designed pieces. After selling her store in 2005, she changed her business to Paula Nurse Designs and now specifically creates wearable art from an array of precious and semi-precious stones, gold and silver. These opulent items can be found at fine jewelry stores and galleries in Hawaii as well as Arizona.
