/24-7PressRelease/ - February 28, 2008 - The Maynard, a soon to be opened boutique hotel in the heart of the Peak District is offering tourists and day trippers to The Peak District a 20% discount on accommodation when the hotel reopens in a few weeks. Anyone visiting The Peak District hotel for lunch or dinner when they are on holiday or day tripping in The Peak District will qualify for 20% off The Maynard's standard published room rates.

The offer is subject to availability. To book, you need to visit The Maynard for lunch or dinner and mention the words Tourist Offer, e-mail restaurant@themaynard.co.uk or call 01433 630321. Usual Maynard Terms & Conditions apply.

Paul Downing, director of The Maynard, said: "We already have strong offers for local residents and a great 3-course lunch deal every day of the year for just 14, which is aptly called 365. We wanted to do something for tourists and day trippers as well. The Peak District is an increasingly popular destination for short breaks and we realise that attracting more tourists needs to be part of a medium to long term strategy.

"Of course the weather will help as well, so all Peak District businesses are looking forward to a much better summer than last year." It is widely accepted that one of the things that lets The Peak District down is the availability of high quality accommodation that enables the region to compete on favourable terms with other UK and European destinations.

Paul Downing added: "I think we're going to see much more of a move towards the high end of accommodation in The Peak District in the near future, as more sophisticated customers are looking for it and in all honesty there is currently a real shortage of top quality rooms in the area. We hope to benefit from this and we are already hearing that there may be one or two more boutique hotels popping up in The Peak District very soon. This can only be good for the whole sub region and will add significantly to The Peak District as an attractive visitor destination."
