PELHAM, NY, April 11, 2010
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Pelham Hall of Honor is accepting nominations for their 2010 honorees. Criteria for selection include extraordinary accomplishments which have made their fellow citizens proud; dedicated public service over an extended period; demonstration of the quality and values of their Pelham education through their life's work; selfless acts of service which have benefited the community and nation; leadership provided to professional or community organizations; and athletic, cultural, or academic accomplishments as a Pelham student which led to future civic contributions.
"We established the Hall of Honor Program because so many incredible Pelham residents have never been recognized or are unknown to today's residents," commented Committee Chair Kenneth G. Kraetzer, a 1975 graduate of Pelham Memorial High School and Founder of the program. "We hope to honor them and their families before their stories are lost forever, and our hopes are to make this information available on the internet for future generations to see."
Nominations should include a biography and photo (preferably head shot and digital), and contact info for nominee or family member if candidate no longer resides in Pelham, or is deceased. Nominations should be sent to PelhamHallofHonor@gmail.com or 441 Seventh Avenue, Pelham, NY 10803. The deadline for submissions is April 26, 2010.
The program will recognize as many as six individuals, at least half of whom must be graduates of the Pelham School District. Bronze plaques, featuring a likeness and short biography of each honoree, will be presented to the Pelham School District for display in the High School.
Last year's inaugural program honored six natives and residents of Pelham (NY): Richard Daronco, Eugene Lee Evans, Tom Fenlon, Victor Henningsen, Michael Scherner, and BettyAnn Cerruti Srere.
