Perry Hosting EXPOSURE Concert as Buffalo's New Wild Woman; Raising Awareness for Domestic Violence

Suzanne Perry is a survivor of domestic violence who publicly broke her silence. Last week it was announced she will lead Wild Women Unite Buffalo, and will host 6th annual EXPOSURE Concert for domestic violence awareness.

Don't stay for the kids, don't stay for finances, don't wait until this or that.. make the leap of faith now... don't believe an abuser will change.

BUFFALO, NY, February 27, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- She's got plenty to smile about, today.

But just a few years back, she had bruised ribs, and bruises and cuts about her body. She was humiliated, raped and beaten, again. She sobbed to sleep, praying, asking what she ever did so wrong to deserve what she was getting. She saw no clear way out and thought she would be killed at the hand of her husband.

Meet Suzanne Perry. Curly purple hair, with a bright smile and an undeniable twinkle in her eye. She has an uninhibited, obnoxious laugh. She is a free woman who survived 22 years of domestic violence and sexual assault. She lived to tell, and she inspires people to get the courage to leave an abusive relationship.

Ms. Perry is the founder of Love Shouldn't Hurt.TV, a nonprofit charity that advocates for men and women impacted by domestic violence and has become a motivational speaker.

Just outside of Buffalo, New York, Ms. Perry coordinates an annual three-day music-fest weekend, to bring light to the darkness of abuse. Ms. Perry orchestrates the "EXPOSURE Concert: Because love shouldn't hurt" which live-streams around the world. This year marks the sixth consecutive EXPOSURE Concert.

From June 26-28, 2015, fifty bands are scheduled to perform on two stages, with special guests, a sold out vendor fair on Saturday, and raffles and games. EXPOSURE has been viewed from 9 countries and over 30 states in the US.

She continues to land well-known music industry sponsors such as Regal Tip, Yorkville Sound and Guitar Factory, even telecom giant Verizon Wireless. Additional sponsors include the Women's International Music Network (WiMN), She Rocks the Planet! and Raymour & Flanigan furniture.

Last week, it was announced Ms. Perry was chosen to take the reins of Wild Women Unite, successor to Yvonne Folck, the Original Wild Woman, who is relocating to Florida.

Ms. Folck has spent the last ten years bringing hundreds of women together annually for an unforgettable weekend as they learn basics of outdoor activities they never imagined trying, such as fly-fishing, kayaking, zip-lining, foraging, self-defense. She has steadily built alliances with sporting/outdoor outlets and in 2014, when Cabela's moved into town, Ms. Folck sprang into action. Last October, Cabela's supplied resources and staff to teach a variety of outdoor sports and activities at the Wild Women Unite weekend.

Mr. Don Ashworth, Marketing Manager of Cabela's in Cheektowaga, NY, has agreed to again take part in Wild Women Unite weekend, being held October 2 and 3 in Grand Island, NY. The event is expected to sell out, with 500 female participants; coming in from across the United States and Canada.

Ms. Folck felt confident passing the reins to Ms. Perry, stating, "I know Suzanne will take this event forward with new enthusiasm and determination and make it better than it was. At the same time, this event will serve as the signature fundraiser for the 'Love Shouldn't Hurt' organization which provides education and support to stop domestic violence and empower women."

Ms. Perry is grateful and humbled by the acquisition; citing that it will "provide a financial feed for the nonprofit," further enabling her outreach to provide support services and resources to men and women who are in abusive relationships. Services include workshops, support groups, public outreach efforts to educate, and confidence-building skills.

"One in four women and one in six men is way too many!" Ms. Perry stated. "If our daughter didn't confront me and threaten to run away, I wouldn't be here today! I wasn't strong enough to leave on my own. But I survived, and now I am here as living testimony that anybody who is in a similar situation, can live again. You can have an awesome life outside the confines of abuse! I have never been so happy, so grateful in my life! Today, my life ROCKS!"

Ms. Perry has a message to the world that a person - man or woman - doesn't need to stay in an abusive relationship. "Don't stay for the kids, don't stay for finances, don't wait until this or that.. make the leap of faith now, but have a safety plan in place. And don't believe an abuser will change. They will make their self cry, they will claim they will go to counseling, but next time, it will be worse. You are not alone, run and don't look back!"

Ms. Perry will be accepting donations to share messages of hope and from survivors, from around the world, live onstage during the EXPOSURE Concert in June.
