Peter Y. Hahn Joins Metro Health as Chief Medical Officer

Metro Health Hospital has appointed Dr. Peter Y. Hahn as chief medical officer.



    WYOMING, MI, May 26, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hahn brings almost two decades of leadership to his new role, which includes overseeing more than 500 Metro Health physicians. He also provides leadership to medical education and serves as the chief clinical quality officer for the organization. As a practicing interventional pulmonologist and intensivist, he will also see a limited number of patients.

Before joining Metro, Hahn was vice chief of staff and medical staff president-elect at Tuality Healthcare in Hillsboro, Oregon. He also served as chair-elect of the hospital's board of directors, chair of quality management and chair of its Patient Safety and Multidisciplinary Review committees.

Hahn was director of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine and medical director for specialties for the Tuality Medical Group. He was also president of the Oregon Society of Critical Care Medicine and founded and led the Northwest chapter for the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. Before his work in Oregon, Hahn spent 14 years at Mayo Clinic, eight of which were as a staff physician. Dr. Hahn was a Mayo Foundation Scholar and the recipient of the Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship Award.

Hahn has twice been named a "Top Doc in Pulmonary Medicine" by Portland Monthly Magazine. He has published extensive work and has lectured and presented on numerous health care topics. He has also served in national and regional leadership roles for many health care and related organizations.

He is trained in health-care-delivery improvement and is certified as a physician executive, in medical management and in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine. Hahn holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee Haslam College of Business and a Doctor of Medicine from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Hahn completed his residency and fellowships in internal medicine, pulmonary and critical care medicine and sleep medicine, all at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Hahn is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American College of Physician Executives, Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology and World Association of Bronchology.

A native of Okemos, Michigan, he is in the process of relocating to the Grand Rapids area.
