/24-7PressRelease/ - BELLEVUE, WA - April 24, 2008 - Pharmacy OneSource, Inc., software as a service provider to more than 1,000 hospitals in the United States, announced today that its Quantifi clinical documentation program continues to be successful in helping clients show cost savings, establish benchmarks and trend clinical and quality pharmacy activities. Pharmacy OneSource has 28,262 users currently documenting in Quantifi who have recorded more than $90 million in cost savings in the first quarter of 2008.

"Our intervention documentation tripled once we started using Quantifi with the interface to our ADT system. Our monthly intervention total has increased to over 1,600 documented entries," said Philip Rioux, Director of Pharmacy at Central Maine Medical Center.

Quantifi users documented 1,751,858 interventions last quarter, which were associated with $8,780,288 actual dollar and $81,827,189 in risk avoidance savings by pharmacists through intervention. Real reduction in supply costs (such as a switch from atorvastatin to simvistatin) is an example of actual dollar savings; where avoided potential costs (an adverse drug event or an extended length of stay) represent risk avoidance savings.

Here are the Top Five Drugs associated with a documented intervention recorded in Quantifi last quarter, and the total number of reports for each:

Vancomycin 62336
Warfarin 33178
Enoxaparin 26695
Levofloxacin 23779
Piperacillin and Tazobactam Sodium 14661

With more than 700 hospitals across the world using Quantifi, and more than 15 million clinical interventions, adverse events and adverse drug reactions documented, Pharmacy OneSource understands the potential to increase the credibility of pharmacy numbers in the eyes of the hospital administrators.

"The best part of Quantifi is the ability to customize it in a moment's notice. We can start a new program and instantly begin documenting our time spent towards the project," said Pat Schneider, Clinical Coordinator at Goshen General Hospital.

Quantifi allows pharmacists to document their clinical interventions, adverse events and adverse drug reactions quickly over the internet or on a handheld computer through a series of menus, drop-lists, and input screens, collecting crucial event data easily. In addition, Quantifi users have the ability to follow-up on their reports or the reports done by their peers. Quantifi Administrators easily generate executive level reports and detailed managerial reports to support clinical and quality improvement activities.
