/24-7PressRelease/ - RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, June 04, 2008 - Through a recent partnership between BioSignia and Bridges to Excellence , physicians can now use BioSignia's Know Your Number (KYN) to increase patient quality care and obtain certification for pay-for-performance programs. KYN is the first disease-specific risk assessment (DRA) tool to predict an individual's risk of developing chronic preventable diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. By using KYN, physicians can demonstrate they have implemented comprehensive solutions in their practice and delivered patient-centered care.
"When physicians use Know Your Number they're collecting the quality measurements that Bridges to Excellence is looking for," says Ron Evans, senior vice president of sales for BioSignia, who has over twenty years management experience in the health care field. "Know Your Number not only benefits the patient, but it allows physicians to become certified without paying out-of-pocket costs."
Unlike the traditional option for BTE certification, the KYN program allows physicians to become certified in all three levels for pay-for-performance programs at no cost. KYN meets BTE's mission to promote and deliver advanced quality care through practice transformation and care reengineering.
"Know Your Number is really a one-step, cost-effective solution to becoming Bridges to Excellence certified," says Evans. "Up until now the only way physicians could obtain certification was to absorb considerable out-of-pocket costs through a time-consuming process."
The KYN tool is multifunctional because it serves as a tool for physicians to become certified and increase quality care and it also predicts and documents patient outcomes, which no other certification tool has been able to measure before. Through KYN, BioSignia documents the actual risk reductions of a patient while identifying and predicting the onset of disease. It can measure a physician's performance by looking at how well the patient is doing, which provides an excellent documentation tool for the patient.
BioSignia is not only providing a breakthrough disease-specific risk assessment tool for physicians to gain certification, the company has also been designated by BTE as an approved data aggregator where it interfaces with physicians via electronic data and then sends the information to a performance assessment organization (PAO) for performance measurement. BioSignia also ensures accurate data intake and collaborates on new measurements to take in new data sets.
Based on the National Committee for Quality Assurance Diabetes Physician Recognition Program, eligible physicians can receive up to $200 per qualified diabetic patient per year through the BTE Diabetes Care Link by using KYN. Eligible physicians can also qualify for BTE's Cardiac Care Link and receive up to $ 200 per year for each qualified cardiac patient through the KYN program.

Bridges to Excellence awards certification to physicians delivering a level of care management it deems is superior. Becoming BTE certified assures the health care community the physician is delivering superior care to patients on a day-to-day basis. The certification process analyses clinical data based on the physician's records, which is then sent to a data aggregator and assessment organization for measurement.
