/24-7PressRelease/ - CHICAGO, IL, July 01, 2006 - The Avenue Business Association of Oak Park has launched Pig Parade on the Avenue, an outdoor public arts installation of 17 custom-designed fiberglass pig sculptures along the streets of the city's historic shopping and dining district. Each of the uniquely painted "swine" sculptures has been sponsored by an area business or organization, and designed by an area artist. The Pig Parade is free, open to the public and is available for viewing from June through September.
"Pig Passports" are free booklets that are available from all Pig Parade on the Avenue sponsors and feature information about each pig, artist and sponsor, a pig coloring page, pig trivia questions and an entry form for a special prize drawing.
The Pig Parade event will culminate on October 8 with a fundraising auction at Pleasant Home to benefit Hephzibah Children's Association and the Oak Park Area Arts Council. Funds will also go toward the Avenue Business Association and artist stipends.

Many local businesses have supported the fundraising initiative including Foley-Rice Collision Center, which donated clear-coating for each of the pigs and HJ Mohr & Sons Concrete which donated the concrete bases for all of the pigs. In addition, the Village of Oak Park partnered with The Avenue Business Association to coordinate the event and manage placement of the pig artistry.
