TSINCHU, TAIWAN, August 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Ping-Ho Chen, PhD, a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Chen celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Now retired, Dr. Chen devotes his time to painting, sculpting, and writing his novels after dedicating 41 years to developing control systems for everything from missiles to artificial hearts. From 1974 to 2003, he conducted research as chief scientist with the department of electrical engineering and communication at the Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology in Taiwan. Today, Dr. Chen produces works of art at Chen's Art Studio, and has been shown in exhibitions with Tungnan University, the annual show at Tsingchu Artists Society, and the annual photography show at Tsingchu City.

A lifetime of accomplishments in robotics, logic control systems, wind-powered energy, and aerospace began with a term of military service with artillery as well as a mechanical engineering degree from the National Chengkong University. Dr. Chen received the degree in 1972 and earned a Master's degree in power mechanical engineering from the National Tsinghua University in 1974. He joined Chung Shan that year, and went on to the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, to earn a PhD in 1987.

Dr. Chen brought back to Taiwan the expertise and innovation to develop attitude sensing, autopilot, seeker stabilization and control surface control systems for missile guidance, as well as ballistics and gun controls for tanks cannons. Those same control technologies were applied to the development of artificial hearts. For his many years of service, he was awarded a Loyalty Medal and a Chief Engineer Medal from the Taiwanese government.

In 2003, Dr. Chen left the Chung Shan Institute to join the department of electrical engineering at Tungnan University, where he developed numerous patents and received 10 separate grants from the National Science Counsel of Taiwan, uniting university and industry experts in collaborative research. In 2013, he joined Taipei Technology University in the Graduate School of Electrical Engineering, and in 2015, he retired to work on his art.

Dr. Chen has authored numerous industry books and papers on engineering, and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Taiwan Automatic Control Society, and the Tsingchu Art Society. Some notable inventions have included control systems for single-wheeled vehicles, electric motor technology, periscope technology, and fuzzy logic controls.

Dr. Chen is very proud of his painting, "Bath in the Jungle of Eve" and his sculpture, "Weeping-Blood Trunk," which offer abstractions of the female form. For his many accomplishments, scientific or otherwise, Dr. Chen was selected for inclusion in the 2016 volume of Who's Who in the World. He is married to Su-Mei Chang, and has two children, Chi Chen and Claire Chen. In addition to painting, sculpture, and literature, Dr. Chen enjoys admiring architecture.
