Catch up on your favorite blog in the check-out line, read the days news in pictures, locate the nearest Starbucks or even find cheap gas nearby with Plusmo.
Plusmo announced today the availability of its free and customizable mobile Web service.

/24-7PressRelease/ - SAN JOSE, CA, June 07, 2006 - "Plusmo lets you keep the stuff you love at your fingertips!" said Plusmo CEO Krishna Vedati. "Whether you want to catch up on your favorite blog while at the check-out line, read the days news in pictures, locate the nearest Starbucks, or find cheap gas nearby, you can do all this and more with Plusmo. Surfing the web using Plusmo is a lot of fun because there is no waiting - all the information is downloaded to your phone in advance."

Since the unannounced launch of the alpha version of Plusmo six weeks ago, users from more than 110 countries and 90 mobile phone service providers have downloaded and used Plusmo. Plusmo is initially launched with three types of content - "Feeds," "Gadgets," and "Channels" - that serve as gateways to just about any kind of Web content.

Plusmo Feeds are XML/RSS-based resources added to the service by users, and can include both consumer-generated content, such as blogs, MySpace profiles and photos, as well as professional media, including news feeds and other XML-based Web content.

Plusmo Gadgets are small utilities, such as traffic reports, a "Pizza Hut Locator," LiveJournal and MySpace user Gadgets, Google News search and much more.

Plusmo Channels are user-created and easily shared combinations of feeds and Gadgets. For example, a "Gadgets Galore" Channel combines the popular Engadget and Gizmodo gadget blogs into a single Channel. The "VideoGamer" Channel combines Joystiq, Kotaku and Engadget feeds. Users are creating new channels every day.

Plusmo is free for users and free for content providers to make their feeds and services available on Plusmo.

Bloggers can make their blogs available on readers' cell phones using Plusmo's blog button. A simple wizard at the Plusmo.com site produces a personal icon and custom code, which bloggers can simply paste into their home page. The code makes the custom button visible on the blog. When readers click on it, they're taken to a quick process for subscribing to that blog's content on their phones.

Plusmo supports the cell phones of more than 2 billion people around the world, including all Java MIDP 2.0 and MIDP 1.0 enabled mobile phones, RIM Blackberry devices, Windows Mobile Smart phones, Palm Treos and Pocket PC-enabled PDAs. The company will soon announce support for new devices and operating systems such as BREW version and a native Symbian version.

To get started with Plusmo, users simply visit www.plusmo.com. The Plusmo service is currently in beta.
