/24-7PressRelease.com/ - February 4, 2005 - POCONO MOUNTAINS, PA - As the official destination tourism marketing organization for Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains region, the Pocono Mountains Vacation Bureau, Inc. (PMVB, Inc.) is continually interested in assessing the image of the Pocono Mountains as a vacation destination.

According to Bob Uguccioni, executive director of the PMVB, Inc., "From time to time we use outside research firms to assess how potential visitors perceive our region, and we continually monitor the satisfaction of our visitors internally at the PMVB, Inc."

In May 2004, a study done by Omnitel, a weekly national telephone omnibus service of NOP World, Inc., asked visitors if they had heard positive or negative things about the Pocono Mountains as a place to visit and questioned whether or not they thought of the Pocono Mountains as a nice place to visit.

The results were as follows: 63% of people questioned in the Northeast, where the destination is most well known, said they heard positive things about the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania as a place to visit. By comparison, only 12.3% indicated they had heard negative things about the destination. When asked if the Pocono Mountains region is a nice place to visit, 61.9% agreed.

These results were based on telephone interviews conducted from May 7-9, 2004. A total of 1,012 interviews nationwide were completed, 526 interviewees being female and 486 male, both age 18 and over. One hundred and ninety-five interviews were completed among people living in the Northeast.

In recent months, the PMVB, Inc. has also conducted numerous internal studies at Pocono Mountains visitor's centers, all of which have revealed even higher percentages of people holding favorable perceptions of the Pocono Mountains.

"We are very happy with the results of all of our surveys," Uguccioni said. "They clearly indicate that even on a nationwide basis, the majority of the people surveyed have heard positive things about the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania as a place to visit. These favorable perceptions assure us that the Pocono Mountains will continue to flourish as a vacation destination."
