TYNE AND WEAR, UK, March 01, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Comic Relief or Red Nose Day is a fundraising charity event held every two years by the BBC. Comic Relief has been a popular event since 1988 which raised a total of GBP15 million. Money raised from Comic Relief goes towards helping a number of causes in the UK and Africa. In the UK it helps with issues such as Domestic Violence and in Africa money raised goes towards issues such as the HIV crisis.
The host of Banter Radio Sam Willey has this year decided to play his part in the fundraising. The online podcast which mainly focuses on Film and other media will be presenting a special broadcast from Durham New College on Friday March 13th 2009. The College is situated in Framwellgate moor located in Durham, North East England. The show will focus on what Comic Relief is all about and stick to the theme of this year's Red Nose Day - "Do something funny for money"
Sam will be joined by fellow student Simon Smart to host the show. Students of the college are encouraged to come along and appear on the show for a small donation to Comic Relief. Those who can't make it to Durham New on March 13th are urged to listen to the special broadcast when it is released, and make a donation based on the quality of the program. Banter Radio t-shirts are also on sale with all profit going to Comic Relief.
