PITTSBURGH, PA, April 18, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Point Park University is participating in The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program). This program allows the University to voluntarily enter into an agreement with Veterans Affairs to fund tuition expenses for veterans. Free tuition may be available to those who qualify.
"We think this program offers a tremendous opportunity to honor our veterans who give so much to our country," said Mark Matthews, Veterans Coordinator at Point Park. "So many veterans return home and wonder what's next. Point Park is prepared to help them take steps toward their future."
The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. Institutions that voluntarily enter into a Yellow Ribbon Agreement with Veterans Affairs choose the percentage of tuition and fees that will be waived. Veterans Affairs will match that percentage and issue payment directly to the institution.
