/24-7PressRelease/ - ST. PAUL, MN, July 26, 2006 - Sunbelt Business Brokers, a large business brokerage firm in Minnesota, reported that it facilitated the sale of Advanced Medical Institute of Eagan, a popular med spa business offering skin rejuvenation, hair removal and other image enhancement services.
Sunbelt was retained by Wally Schmelz, the founder of AMI (www.advancedmedicalinstitute.com) , who has licensed locations in 9 states, and decided to sell the flagship Eagan location so he can pursue taking the AMI brand national. "The med spa business is growing, driven by baby boomers interested in looking their best. It is an ideal time to expand into new markets." Schmelz said.
"The small business acquisition market has been very active", stated Chris Jones, Vice President of Sunbelt Business Brokers. "But getting deals financed, especially through the complex SBA loan process, can be difficult to navigate. As business brokers, we know how difficult securing successful financing can be, but we also know what problems to look for before they happen."
Another Sunbelt agent, Paul Atkinson, located the investor and presented the AMI opportunity. The investor, Tom Benson, owns a real estate investment company and wanted to diversify his portfolio. Benson stated ""Real estate is a buy and hold strategy. I wanted to purchase a solid cash flow business with existing customers to diversify my holdings. AMI is a company with an excellent track record and great potential for growth."
Park Midway Bank of St. Paul is a preferred SBA lender who was brought in by Tom Benson to finance the transaction.
Sunbelt recommends that potential buyers and sellers become educated on the realities of small business acquisitions. Buyers should be certain to locate transaction-oriented advisors, meet with potential lenders, research the local market and utilize a professional business broker. Sellers should hire a professional business broker, obtain a valuation, understand their tax consequences, confidentially market the business and rely on experienced advisors.
Sunbelt Business Brokers is a Business Brokerage Firm that focuses solely on helping people buy and sell businesses.
