PSL police used an e-mail based notification system, known as CrimeWeb.Net, to instantly send vital information to important groups, including local residents. Port St. Lucie sent out its first alert regarding the hurricane on October 24th with updated weather information, important numbers, and "what should you do" tips.
The aftermath prompted them to send out additional alerts to calm the community and give clean up instructions. By sharing this vital information, Port St. Lucie PD was able to create a powerful communications network within the city, keeping citizens alerted of the situation and potentially saving lives.
