ROCHESTER, NY, December 04, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nestled in the rolling hills of Plymouth Massachusetts, a new rooftop solar project has just been completed at The Village Racquet & Fitness Club at The Pinehills. The owner, Chris Horne, owns and operates the nearby Scituate Racquet & Fitness Club, which has also gone solar.
Kevin Kelly, Ph.D and VP of Marketing for Power Management New England, worked closely with the owner to meet his energy requirements and lower the facility's electricity bills. Power Management helped find a secure investor in the solar panels who was also willing to enter into a 20 year power purchase agreement (PPA). The end result is a generation program that will significantly reduce electricity rates for the fitness facility without the club having to bear the cost and responsibilities of owning and operating the array.
The facility will generate approximately 100 KW per year and 112 Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SREC)/year. The planning stage of the project took just three months. The solar panel and inverter installation was completed in just four days. The owner has the option of increasing the size of the solar array by 50% once Massachusetts' SREC2 is published.
