/24-7PressRelease/ -- Pool X Perts, a South Florida Pool Company, is taking steps to educate clients in regards to the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act was signed in December of 2007 by President Bush and applies to all public pools and spas to prevent drowning and/or entrapment and goes into effect December 19, 2008.
What does this mean to you? If you are the operator of a public pool and/or spa with direct suction main drains than your pool/spa must be fitted with a new main drain grate/cover that meets both the ASME/ANSI A112.19.8-2007 standard for drain covers and the water velocity requirement of this rule.
The installation of a new main drain grate/cover is just the first step though. All pools built without a main drain collector tank must be retrofitted with a properly sized and piped collector tank on or before July 1, 2013 to eliminate direct suction through the main drain.
