/24-7PressRelease/ -- On Sunday January 25th 2009 beginning at 1PM, at First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, located at 124 Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights,
a distinguished panel of professionals who served on President Obama's transition team, will talk about their experiences, provide critical information and take questions from the audience.
Transition advisor, James E. Johnson, Esq., a Partner in the Litigation Department at the prestigious law firm, Debevoise Plimpton LLP, will lead the discussion. The esteemed litigator, commended in Legal 500 US (2007) for his "calm and methodical demeanor" as well as his "clear sense of high ethics and morals" said in a statement: "This is an extraordinary moment for all of us to help make the world more just and, in the truest sense, a more beloved community" stressing, "we hope to share insights into how we can make change happen here and now."
Lisa Mensah, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute's Initiative on Financial Security will discuss her specific projects for "Change". Ms. Mensah is a recognized and highly acclaimed expert in Economic Development, Community Development Finance, Asset Building and Economic Security.
Other participants are: Barry Ford, Director, Outreach & Advocacy, United States Tennis Association, who will serve as moderator, and Linda Kolts, who will discuss ways to get involved at First Presbyterian Church, and explore possible partnerships & collaborations in the Brooklyn community.
The discussion will cover:
• The orderly transfer of power-passing on the keys to departments of government
• The challenges of a transfer during a time of crisis
• Answering the call: gathering some of the nation's most talented and spurring them to action
• Social change: moving from concept to reality in Washington and at home
• Social change: a case study in the confluence of goals, allies and opportunism
• What we can and must do close to home
The panelists are all members of First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, under the leadership of Rev. Cari Jackson, Interim Senior Pastor.
