/24-7PressRelease/ - AMMAN, JORDAN, August 30, 2005 - The opening ceremony of the seminar, held at PSUT's Friendship auditorium, was attended by Dr. Ibrahim Rbaihat, Assistant Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; in addition to PSUT's Acting Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Mahmoud Qudah, on behalf of PSUT's president Dr. Hisham Ghassib.

Dr. Rbaihat delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, in which he praised PSUT's efforts in hosting the fourth part of the National Youth Strategy, conducted and launched last year by the Jordanian Higher Council of Youth. The first part of the National Youth Strategy was held at the King Hussein Bin Talal University.

"The Higher Council of Youth has realized that it is important to extend our hands and contact the Jordanian youth directly by sharing ideas and experiences with them concerning their aspirations, ambitions, and how to begin achieving them. It is part of the vision that His Majesty King Abdullah II wants us to follow, to entice Jordanian youth to participate effectively in realizing the National Youth Strategy."

The seminar included four main lectures that highlighted the relationship between the Information Technology and higher education sectors in Jordan. The lectures were supervised by professors of PSUT's King Hussein School for Information Technology.

Titles of these lectures were: "Developing an Electronic Gate for education", by Professor Walid Salameh; "Stages of developing and utilizing the Electronic Gate for education", by Dr. Said Hammad; and "The Objective of Utilizing E-Learning" by Dr. Ezziddine Hattab. The fourth lecture was about the "E-learning in Jordan" and was presented by Dr. Arafat Awajan.

In addition to PSUT's students' participation, a number of student delegations took part in the seminar representing the following private and public universities: Mu'tah, Al al-Bayt, Al Hashimiyah, Amman Arabic University, Philadelphia, Zarqa, Balqa for Applied Sciences, Petra, Tafileh.

It is worth mentioning that the previous three parts of the National Youth Strategy converged about the youth's participation in decision-making, their awareness on civil rights and their involvement in the entertaining activities.
