Who says you can't go home again?
/24-7PressRelease/ - RUTLAND, VT, April 10, 2007 - It wasn't that long ago that Rutland area wrestling fans would make a monthly visit to the National Guard Armory on West Street to see the superstars of TSW Pro Wrestling battle it out.
Back then you could count on the touring stars of TSW to make a one night stop in Rutland to engage in some of the most legendary bouts in local wrestling history.
For the last 50 years an occasional wrestling show would come to the Rutland area, usually a joint venture with the state fair or a local police, fire, or EMT group. They were the kind of event that would come to town and leave never to be heard from again. It wasn't until late 1999 that Rutland got its very own wrestling company. Based out of the Rutland armory and with a very small initial budget TSW brought wrestling fans up close and personal with the action. Fans responded to the fast paced matches and great family entertainment. It wasn't long before the armory became the "place to be" on a saturday night for TSW pro wrestling. TSW enjoyed a run of capacity crowds throughout 1999-2001.
In addition to the live events at the armory you could watch TSW every friday night on UPN in Vermont and all over the country through syndication. Wrestling fans all over America were tuning into the TSW High Impact tv show and getting their first taste of TSW action and the Rutland Armory itself. "Its funny to think that our little city was the place where so much magic happened back then, and that wrestling fans in places like California were checking out what was happening in the Rutland armory" said Bill Charron from American Sports Promotions.
Of course if things were so great then where has TSW been for the last 5 years? The wrestling recession that folded both ECW and WCW had a direct impact on companies like TSW as well. Then the attacks on September 11, 2001 caused the armory to go on alert and become unavailable for events like TSW wrestling. It was decided that TSW would have to shut down and for a long time its future was uncertain.
Fast forward to June 12, 2005. World Wrestling Entertainment decided to bring back ECW for a one night reunion show. It was because of this event that TSW fans realized that they missed their TSW shows and if ECW could come back then why not TSW? Fans began voicing their desire for a TSW reunion event. It was decided that August 12, 2006 would be a great day for such an event and it was held at Rutland's Royce-Mandigo arena in front of a record crowd. It was apparent then that TSW was missed by the Rutland fans and needed to come back to the area on a more permanent basis.
Now, with the help of some great sponsors including Sam's Good News, 101.5fm The Fox, Best Western, Aarons sales and lease ownership and Burger King the company that made so many great memories for wrestling fans young and old is "BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND"!
Make sure to get your tickets at the Diamond Run Mall office right now. But also plan on stopping and meeting the stars of TSW as they will be around town for personal appearances the day of the show.
You can meet MTV "True Life" stars the Alden Brothers at Aarons sales and lease ownership, Rutland's own White Lion Jim Tanner and TSW Heavyweight Champion Punk will be at the Diamond Run Mall and former ECW stars Justin Credible and Tony Devito will be at Burger King! These great stars will be available for pictures and autographs. Remember to stop at Burger King and register for the "best seats in the house" ticket giveaway for the big TSW event.
