MIDDLETOWN, CA, August 14, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Barbara Sinor will be interviewed on the popular "Coping with Caregiving" Internet radio show on Saturday, August 22nd. Drawing from her recent highly acclaimed book "Addiction: What's Really Going On? Inside a Heroin Treatment Program" Sinor will discuss the area of addiction in our elderly population.
Sinor's coauthor is Deborah McCloskey whose innovative counseling methods endeared her to her clients in the clinic where she worked. The book's Foreword is contributed by Mark Parrino, President, American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD). Sinor has also authored Gifts From the Child Within; An Inspirational Guide for the Recovering Soul; and coming soon in 2010, Tales of Addiction: Stories from the Soul.
"Addiction: What's Really Going On?" contains powerful true-life stories woven together to form a tapestry filled with pain, joy, defeat, and sometimes success. The entire book is molded around McCloskey's heartfelt desire for her clients to be free of drugs. Her counseling methods both endeared her as "the counselor to get" and locked her into a decade of searching for better ways to help those she felt were stuck on the merry-go-round of a methadone system.
This book should be read by teachers, counselors, hospitals employees, college students, government officials, and our general adult population whether addicted, sober, or straight. It can be used as a text for those learning addiction recovery training and certification. The book instructs us all to ask questions surrounding those we love and those we do not know--our addiction population.
