A synopsis of the film plot is as follows:

Vampire Zoo is set in a futuristic Britain where the Vampire Empire has spread around the globe. Humans have found themselves an endangered, hunted species.

Scientists in England discovered a vaccine against Vampires which would protect them from their venomous bite. They refused to share this with any other countries, so England became a Fortress against the world. No one could enter or leave. Religion was banned, and all faith was placed in science.

Outside of England, there was a great chemical, biological and nuclear war. The contours of the planet were scarred and changed beyond recognition. There were massive casualties; continents disappeared, with only Britain surviving. Refugee vampires drifted in ships along the coast of Britain until they were invited to land. The vampires were treated as second class citizens, put in ghettos and given menial jobs.

The British Vampires cultivated there own religion, church and holy book. They can no longer attack humans or move with great speed - they are almost powerless in every sense. They are trapped, like a lion in a zoo and are forced to adapt.

The film's plot centers on one vampire family and one human family who get caught up in the struggle. Family loyalty is tested when individuals have to decide what the right course of action is. One man's evil is another Vampire's good.

The War outside of Britain was won by the Vampires. The world is now owned by the Vampires and no humans exist. There is peace between all Vampire Countries. The Computer search engines have been fixed to convey that Britain is the only country. Planes and boats are shot down. The Vampires want the vaccine formula to wipe out Britain. They regard humans as savages, who create weapons of death and are full of hate. They need to be saved from their human zoo and set free to roam as Vampires.
