Rabbi Shlomo Braun of Aleh Foundation Meets Mendy Mirocznik

The Rabbinical Alliance of America celebrated their 15th Annual Siyum Hashas on August 27, 2013 at the Sephardic Lebanese Congregation in Brooklyn.

NEW YORK, NY, September 15, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mendy Mirocznik was among the 150 Rabbinical Leaders who completed the 20 Talmudic volumes over the past 12 months, It was a very moving and enthusiastic environment whereby most of the scholars in attendance undertook the responsibility to continue studying the entire Talmud once again in the upcoming year.

Rabbi Shlomo Braun was pleased to learn that Mendy Mirocznik is running for quite some time in the upcoming democratic primary to represent the people of the 50th NY City Council district in Staten Island. A member of Community Board 2, Mirocznik said his civic involvement has given him "first-hand knowledge of the current problems facing Staten Islanders," particularly in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. He is currently a Court Attorney to Acting Supreme Court Justice Orlando Marrazzo; President of the Council of Jewish Organizations of Staten Island.

He is endorsed by Bill de Blasio, Teamsters Local 237; Mark Murphy, James Pocchia; Staten Island Democratic County Committee; CWA Local 1180. Following are some quotes from Miroczik: "We're seeing fewer education dollars, less transportation options, deteriorating roads and there seems to be no relief in sight," Mr. Mirocznik said in a statement announcing his candidacy. "Meanwhile, our small-businesses, the economic engine, of our community are struggling to survive - that is not a recipe for recovery. We need an advocate who will reverse this trend and bring real results for Mid-Islanders, and I believe I can do that."

"Let the next generation have the same opportunities as their siblings did prior, and do not segregate this part of the Island academically." Mirocznik added, "If we want economic growth, jobs, and to attract families back to Staten Island after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, eliminating programs like this is does the exact opposite." He urged parents and others who object to the cut to contact his campaign at [email protected] or by phone at 347-340-3409. Rabbi Shlomo Braun commented that he is highly qualified and extended his blessings for a successful campaign.

In 1989 a delegation from Israel reached out to Rabbi Shlomo Braun to establish a US fundraising office and expand the Aleh Foundation's public relations and fundraising activities. The Aleh Foundation opened its first office in the United States in1989, and developed a network of more than 30,000 friends throughout the USA who became staunch supporters of our activities. With the Aleh Foundation's help, the rehabilitation centers in Israel grew from a hospice program of 23 children to become the nation's largest provider of educational rehabilitative services to severely developmentally disabled children operating in four different cities in Israel.
