Chinese New Year celebrations had barely begun when we signed wholesale distribution agreements for the last 1oz gold and final 1oz silver Australian Lunar - 2011 Year of the Rabbit bullion coins.
Within a day or two we will have shipped all 30,000 gold coins and 300,000 silver coins from the Mint, allowing us to declare official sell out of both sizes.
As a result, 1oz gold and silver Rabbits have already been removed from sale on http://www.perthmintbullion.com.
This is a great result for the Australian Lunar program reflecting not only strong demand for gold and silver from around the world, but also the attractive design and superb strike quality of The Perth Mint's bullion coins.
Popular Kookaburra Bullion Coin Nears Sell Out
Get ready for an announcement about the sell out of the 2011 1oz Australian Kookaburra silver bullion coin.
We now have wholesale commitments for the remaining mintage and are expecting to make final shipments shortly.
Traditionally, we have made 300,000 1oz Kookaburras annually. However, in response to extra expected demand, we announced an official mintage of 500,000 for the first time in 2011.
As recently reported, 1oz Lunar Rabbit silver bullion coins are officially sold out at the Mint. The only 1oz Lunar coin currently available is the 2008 Year of the Mouse release - although it is also getting close to sell out.
