Raleigh CMO Brings Home Three First Place Awards from National Federation of Press Women

A NFPW member since 1991 and frequent award-winner, Christina Motley received 11 state awards through the North Carolina Press Club (NCPC). Three first place wins went on to compete nationally.

RALEIGH, NC, July 08, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The National Federation of Press Women (NFPW), headquartered in Falls Church, VA has announced Christina Motley of Raleigh, NC as a national winner of three awards in its annual NFPW Communications Contest. The awards will be presented at the NFPW National Conference September 12 in Anchorage, AK.

Motley's national wins include a first place for a marketing campaign done for a local nonprofit organization, third place for graphics and an honorable mention for a media kit that earned national press coverage. Motley won 11 awards at the state level earlier this year. Three first place awards of which on to compete nationally.

A distinguished group of professional journalists, communications specialists and educators judged 575 entries in multiple categories for marketing, public relations and communications. Motley, formerly of Roanoke, Virginia, swept the NCPC contest last year and was the overall winner in the Virginia Press Women's (VPPW) annual statewide contest three consecutive years from 1999-2001.

"I joined NFPW in 1991 for two primary reasons," explained Motley, who owns a marketing firm in Raleigh that offers fractional Chief Marketing Officer services. "As a former journalist, I'm an advocate for the First Amendment and Code of Professional Ethics. Secondly, Norma Lugar (now deceased) advised me that I needed to compete every once in a while when I thought I had produced high caliber work to ensure it consistently withstood the comprehensive critique of some of the most notable colleagues and competitors in the country and that if it did, it would be deemed award worthy."

Motley is one of 257 recipients from across the country who will receive awards for excellence in communications at the national conference in September.
