Ralph Herman Kilmann Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Kilmann is the CEO of the conflict resolution firm Kilmann Diagnostics, a former professor at the Katz Graduate School of Business in the University of Pittsburgh, and an internationally recognized expert on behavioral sciences, social systems, and organizational studies. He has consulted for numerous corporations internationally and written more than twenty books and a hundred articles on the topics of conflict management, organizational development, and corporate transformation. Dr. Kilmann's most recent publication was in 2013 with the book, "The Courageous Mosaic: Awakening Society, Systems, and Souls."

In 1946, Dr. Kilmann was born to Martin Herbert and Lilli Loeb in New York City. He studied at Carnegie Mellon University to earn a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science before moving to California, where he earned a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1972. For 30 years, Dr. Kilmann taught at the University of Pittsburgh, and was named the George H. Love professor of organization and management from 1991 to 2001. He served as the director of the Program in Corporate Culture at Katz, as well as the coordinator of the organizational studies group from 1981 to 1984, and again from 1986 to 1989. From 2002 to 2003, he served as a visiting scholar at the California State University Long Beach College of Business Administration.

Dr. Kilmann established Kilmann Diagnostics in 2009 to offer his e-learning services to high-profile organizations like Amazon, Bank of America, Dupont, Exxon Mobil, FedEx, GE, Google, Harvard University, JP Morgan Chase, Microsoft, NASA, Siemens, Twitter, U.S. Army, and the World Health Organization. He is the principal creator of all of Kilmann Diagnostic's recorded online courses, assessment tools and other workshop materials. Dr. Kilmann has also personally consulted for numerous health-care, financial, and government organizations, including the U.S. Bureau of the Census and the Office of the U.S. President. He has collaborated on such projects as "Managing Ego Energy: The Transformation of Personal Meaning into Organizational Success" in 1994. Dr. Kilmann's research has resulted in many assessment tools to assist in organizational diagnosis, including the Organizational Courage Assessment, the Kilmann-Saxton Culture-Gap Survey, and the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict-Mode Instrument (TKI), which is the world's leading assessment tool for conflict-handling behavior.

Dr. Kilmann is a member of the American Psychological Association, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Sigma Xi. He was awarded the 1976 first prize in a National College Planning competition from the Institute of Management Sciences, where he is a member. For his services to the behavioral sciences, Dr. Kilmann was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World, and four volumes of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America from 1987 to 1994. He also is a proud father of three children.
