ATLANTA, GA, November 01, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/
-- When you think of music, it is seldom you hear a body of work that doesn't immediately prompt you to compare and contrast to others in effect naturally lessening your cognitive dissonance. This fact alone is one that has in recent times contributed to the overall downgrade in originality across the music industry, as the top players feverishly attempt to stay relevant by keeping up with the Jones's, sacrificing the quality and meaning of their art in the process. With October Sky, A.Tone Da Priest, seemed consciously set out to break any stigmas that may have once lumped him into this category of artist as well.
Released October 22, 2012, the same date as the author's birthday, the 22 track LP October Sky features a mass variety of unreal guitar textures, energetic drum beats, and heavy bass lines. Each song individually paints a vivid picture across time and space as A.Tone perpetually belts out introspective life stories and lessons through a revolutionary style of rapping and singing, impressively enough never once repeating a single concept or idea throughout an album only featuring two other guest artists. His use of imagery and metaphor auspiciously leave every track open for wide-ended interpretation as "Kurt Cobain-esque" vagueness prevails on even the songs with the most telling titles, making several of the themes universally applicable in a fashion once made popular by the likes of John Lennon and The Beatles.
With October Sky, A.Tone Da Priest is boldly bringing the art back to the music in a time where overproduction is predominantly the key ingredient to many if not all of the songs which currently populate the tops of any national chart. His unwitting vulnerability, enthralling storytelling, and unapologetic forays into experimentation make this piece of art all but ground breaking in terms of how and why music is made. With seemingly no other motivation than to just create exactly what he was feeling and excluding the frills and perfect production, this piece of music stands out as one of the most heartfelt in decades.
Stand out tracks include; "Blue Sky", "Gotta Love It", "To A Place", and "Black Doves, White Crows" which itself features longtime collaborator and 1Up group mate Sean Spellz.
