/24-7PressRelease/ - CARLSBAD, CA, May 27, 2008 - Realcomm Conference Group, LLC, a global leader in providing education, information and networking opportunities for the commercial real estate, has announced a technology tour of Columbia Center, a 550,000 square foot office building located in downtown San Diego, as part of the Realcomm 2008 education program. This metro high-rise is a stunning example of how an existing building can be transformed into an intelligent "next generation" property.

Bandwidth Now, a leader in the installation, provisioning and managing of next-generation patent-pending Building Optical Networks (BON), and SENTRE Partner, a San Diego-based real estate investment and services company, teamed up with GE Asset Management to acquire the building and to embark on their fourth intelligent building project.
"We continue to define a 'next-gen' building," said Matthew Spathas, CEO of Bandwidth Now and partner of SENTRE Partners. "By installing a common, agnostic network, the building can deliver up to gigabit network speeds at a fraction of the cost. In addition, Wi-Fi will be provided throughout the entire building as an amenity."
Making the system even more unique, SENTRE will deploy numerous back end uses to better serve its tenants. One example includes a web-based work order system, utilizing the building's wireless infrastructure. Building engineers will carry web tablets and Pocket PCs, giving them the ability to receive and respond to tenant work orders on the spot.
In most buildings, traditional analog systems such as HVAC, lighting, security, and parking would be installed separately, with no connectivity or integration among systems. However, at Columbia Center, all of the traditional systems converge at a central communications closet and are managed entirely over an IP network.
Bandwidth Now and SENTRE are exploring a host of other new services to provide its tenants, including Video Conferencing to the PC, Managed IP Telephony and Managed IT Services in an effort to increase tenant productivity and drive down tenant IT costs.
