CARLSBAD, CA, April 05, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Realcomm Conference Group, LLC, a global leader in providing education, information and networking opportunities for the commercial real estate industry, announced today that it is partnering with Future of Work, an active global community of organizations focused on the changing nature of work, the workforce, the workplace and management practice, to present a work design summit at Realcomm 2009. The Future of Work | Mobile Workforce Summit will be held Monday, June 22, 2009 from 1:00 to 5:00pm at the Chicago Hyatt Regency.
"We are excited to partner with Future of Work, whose vision and mission matches what Realcomm has been talking about for years: maximizing technology and promoting/creating innovative work practices to survive and thrive, especially in today's tough economic times," said Jim Young, president and CEO of Realcomm. "This Summit will provide our attendees additional and critical tools and knowledge."
In today's extremely uncertain times, the old financial and corporate institutions, which gave a certain measure of stability, are no longer functioning. The Summit is designed to help participants understand today's uncertainties, learn what they can do to cope and how to get started on a pathway to get their business back under control. The integrated and interactive series of presentations and conversations will be based on hard research and years of experience to help companies of all types navigate the whitewaters of change.
The Work Design Collaborative, LLC (WDC) was founded in 2001 by Charlie Grantham and Jim Ware. WDC is a research and advisory firm that manages Future of Work.
"We are delighted to have this opportunity to showcase the great synergy between Realcomm and Future of Work. We believe in the power of data and fostering technology and knowledge and in the process, discovering new ways to harness critical resources," said Ware. "The old ways of doing things are not working - this track will present success stories and real-time solutions targeting the industry's facility managers/designers and IT decision makers."
Summit topics are:
• Surviving Uncertainty by Creating Your Own Future. Drawing on unpublished case studies and recent economic data, this session will be a discussion of the "perfect storm" of forces driving change in the workplace and the workforce. How does the current economic crisis actually create a unique opportunity for transforming the workplace? Why is radical corporate agility an absolute necessity for survival?
• It Works If You Do It Right: A Case Study of Corporate Agility - SCAN Health. A major case study of an implementation of Future of Work's design approach. Attendees will find out how to get a 40%+ return on investment; increase productivity by 15%+ and keep key talent engaged even in turbulent times.
• Technologies to Support the Flexible Workforce. Attendees will get a broad look at how technologies that support mobile/flexible work - all the way from "old-fashioned" email to web conferencing to remote access to corporate servers and databases to more recent innovations like social networking software, online shared repositories and web portals - are changing both the economics and the experience of working remotely.
• Managing the Mobile Workforce. How do you manage people you can't see on a regular basis? This session will deal with the biggest source of resistance to new ways of working - managerial resistance. Future of Work will propose policies and practices that will enhance the productivity and motivation of remote workers. Future of Work has seen that remote workers are actually more productive and more highly engaged than their office-bound counterparts. This closing session will show attendees how to achieve similar results in your own organization.
