/24-7PressRelease/ - CARLSBAD, CA, May 12, 2008 - Realcomm Conference Group, LLC, a global leader in providing education, information and networking opportunities for the commercial real estate industry, announced today that this year's annual charity event will raise money to benefit the Elementary Institute of Science (EIS), a nonprofit organization that has been serving San Diego since 1964. The 4th Annual Charity Poker Tournament will be held on June 10, 2008 at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego.
"Realcomm is continuing its tradition of giving back to its host city," said Jim Young, Co-Founder and CEO of Realcomm. "We believe that the conference provides an excellent opportunity to create awareness and raise funds for non-profit organizations, such as EIS, that provide invaluable programs for the community."
EIS provides programs to more than 700 students each year between the ages 7-17.
"Funds raised by Realcomm will be applied to EIS' hands-on science and technology enrichment program. The summer and after school classes, with its hands-on lab activities, provide unique learning opportunities for our youth, with the majority from the underserved neighborhood in Southeast San Diego," said Ruth Frazier, Director of Development of EIS. "We are pleased that Realcomm recognizes and supports this so we can continue to provide practical, real-life experiences to inspire learning and provide future career choices in these fields."
Last year, Realcomm raised $100,000 to benefit TechBoston, a department within the Boston Public Schools that supports advanced technology programming in high schools and middle schools.
