RealeyeZ: 3D Animation Will Transform E-commerce

Online sellers also benefit from providing 360 degree views of their products which translates into higher revenue and lower returns. So why aren't more retailers merchandising with 3D video?

"Good question" say experts at RealeyeZ, the 3D jewellery animation company that has been producing 3D animated merchandising for clients in the luxury diamond jewellery industry for the past five years.

"For many years the bridal jewellery market depended on high-quality 2D photography to show their collections online" says Ofer Rubin, founder and CEO of RealeyeZ. "But today consumer demand to see diamond jewellery simulated as if shoppers were in a store has changed the industry: 2D has passed and 3D product animation is here."

In 2007 Rubin predicted that 3D animation would transform e-commerce. At the time the idea that consumers would buy diamonds online was considered outrageous. But Rubin invested heavily in what he accurately forecasted as consumer eventual preference for viewing diamond jewellery in 3D animation. With RealeyeZ, Rubin overcame the challenge of high-cost traditional 3D animation by developing proprietary technology to make entire collections in 3D animation affordable for jewellery designers, manufacturers and online retailers.

The barriers to entry gone, retailers could cost-effectively implement new advertising technologies. Early clients immediately saw their product merchandising transformed. "RealeyeZ revolutionized 3D diamond animation merchandising," says Rubin. "It turned online browsers to buyers."

Raya Wasser, who is responsible for RealeyeZ 3D's Strategic Market Development, adds that today's consumers won't buy if the jewellery on their screen doesn't look realistic and desirable. "Diamonds only show their beauty when they move, so we give them what they need -- a positive user experience as if it was on an actual hand."

"Consumers have spoken," adds Rubin. "Now sellers must decide for themselves. Either they will adopt the technology to provide video product information now or later. If not, they will end up watching their prospective buyers disappear."
