SANTA MONICA, CA, March 19, 2010
/24-7PressRelease/ -- RealRyder International, developers of the RealRyder ABF8 Indoor Cycle, brought fresh and exciting dimension to the health club industry's 2010 IHRSA Show. Show attendees packed into early morning classes eager to experience the world's first unstationary bike. Known for its CoreBalance technology that utilizes an articulating frame to deliver a three-dimensional workout, the RealRyder Indoor Cycle tilts, turns and banks. The result is a more comprehensive functional cycling workout that goes beyond cardio and leg strength by recruiting upper body and core muscle groups while challenging balance and coordination.
With RealRyder customers growing throughout 22 countries and boutique studios cropping up in Miami, Boston, Chicago, New York, New Jersey and San Diego, the equipment is catching the attention of dedicated indoor cyclists seeking to freshen up a workout they've been doing the same way for more than 10 years.
"What an incredible feeling!" said Luis Vargas, a cyclist from Los Angeles who tried the RealRyder Indoor Cycle for the first time at IHRSA. "The unstable movement, as I leaned side to side, made me feel so much more engaged than being on a fixed bike. The workout is completely unlike any other indoor bike."
Demonstrations at this year's IHRSA Show were led by one of Italy's top competitive cyclists, Fabio Biasiolo, who's earned multiple cycling championships, including the Ultracycling World Cup in 2009. Biasiolo utilizes the RealRyder Indoor Cycling bike to gain a competitive edge - specifically, to enhance essential proprioceptive skills that one needs to maintain balance and control throughout various riding conditions.
As demand for functional, core-based workouts continues to rise among today's more savvy and selective fitness consumer, health club owners are seeking innovative equipment that not only "wows," but helps deliver results while preventing injury.
"We're thrilled to be filling a need in this popular category," said Colin Irving, CEO, competitive cyclist and visionary behind the RealRyder concept. "I had always hoped that we could build a piece of equipment that would appeal to the competitive cyclist, but the variety of markets that has opened up to us has been one of the most rewarding elements of this whole journey."
RealRyder Indoor Cycling can be found in rehabilitation and wellness centers, personal training studios, professional cycling facilities, mainstream health clubs, sports academies and universities. Elderly clientele are also utilizing the bikes to improve balance, flexibility and coordination.
"It has been an extremely humbling and rewarding experience, to say the least," added Irving. "I went into this project thinking I might create something that could serve me, and a select group of my peers, and we (unwittingly) built something that is enriching the health of people of all ages and fitness levels. How wonderful is that?"
