Redwood Falls, MN Workforce Development and Economic Development Spurred By Generosity

A new champion for workforce attraction and training has emerged in Redwood Falls, MN.

REDWOOD FALLS, MN, November 07, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Oct 24, 2016, Retired attorney Orrin S. Estebo presented the Redwood Area School District with a $1 million donation to set up a Career Development Center.

Located on Highway 19 in SouthWestern Minnesota, 90 miles east of the South Dakota border, the town of 5,254 has been a standout for rural community economic development. While corn and soybeans paint the landscape in this strong agriculture area, it is the workforce attraction that is now gaining attention.

Estebo's philanthropic efforts champion education and a strong workforce for the area. The $1 million gift will be given to the Redwood Area Foundation over the next six years to begin work on the Orrin S. Estebo Career Development Center.

Redwood Economic Development Director Julie Rath sees the potential for this career development center and the benefit to the Redwood area.

"Skilled workers are in high demand in our area and around Minnesota. This career development center will train students in agriculture, state of the art construction, and many other useful skills," said Rath. "Estebo's generosity is a shining example of successful community members leading and giving back. It is refreshing."

Orrin Estebo has built a legacy of generosity and focusing on youth. He previously donated an estimated $1,500,000 to the Redwood Area Education Foundation, and his latest gift continues his commitment to the growth of the area.

Redwood Area Development Center (RADC) has been instrumental in securing just over $29 million in grants and loans for economic and community development for the Redwood Area, and an additional $30 million in state and federal funding for rail rehabilitation for the Minnesota Valley Rail Authority.
