Reform Canine Breeders and Auctions (RCBA) Changes Its Name to National Alliance for Dog Breeding Reform (NADBR)

Name Change Reflects Reform Group's Desire to Attract Breeders Who Support Commonsense Reform

PILES GROVE, NJ, April 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- At the January 17, 2015 meeting of Reform Canine Breeders and Auctions, the group considered changing its name. Members with backgrounds in marketing and public relations were charged with coming up with several proposed names.

After considering the alternatives, RCBA's voting members chose to change the group's name to National Alliance for Dog Breeding Reform (NADBR). President Hue Grant explains, "When Ron founded our group, he chose a name to get us off the ground. As we've evolved, we felt the name should evolve, too."

Ron Sturgeon, the group's founder, added, "One word that had to be changed was breeders. Breeders became breeding because we want to build a bridge to the breeders. Our mission is about reforming the industry; it's not personal. Most dog breeders are doing the right thing."

As for the other parts of the new name:

- National reflects the group's scope. "Members of our Leadership Team are drawn from 17 states, and we have volunteers from all across the United States," said Grant.

- Alliance reflects the group's desire to collaborate with other stakeholders interested in improving dog breeding for the dogs.

- Dog Breeding reflects a change to focus on the industry, rather than on breeders.

- Reform speaks for itself. NADBR will retain the mission to ensure that dogs are treated humanely, shown kindness and bred using only medically sound practices.
