RelyLocal of Newport-Mesa and Locale Magazine Co-Sponsor Local Author at Orange County Children's Book Festival

Strengthening their message to support local business, the local community and local causes, RelyLocal and Locale Magazine announce their participation in the OC Children's Book Festival and sponsor local resident author Derek Sabori at the event.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA, September 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- RelyLocal and Locale Magazine announced today that they are co-sponsoring longtime Costa Mesa resident and local author Derek Sabori at the Orange County Children's Book Festival and donating a portion of RelyLocal's proceeds in October and November to help fund the Festival in 2011.

RelyLocal, which recently launched in the Newport-Mesa area as a grassroots campaign to support local businesses with a unique small business marketing platform, has created a strategic relationship with the expanding Orange County lifestyle magazine Locale to create co-op advertising opportunities, social media campaigns for select local businesses, as well as participation in local events such as the Orange County Children's Book Festival.

"We are extremely honored to be working with Locale Magazine and to have the ability to give back to the OC Children's Book Festival with the involvement of local author Derek Sabori," says RelyLocal of Newport-Mesa President Trevor Leeds. "RelyLocal is more than just a local business directory and small business marketing platform, it's a movement and a campaign to support our local community from the ground up. Supporting a local non-profit like the OC Children's Book Festival, which is doing such great work for our community, fits right into our model."

The one day festival on October 3rd will feature 100+ vendors focused on children's reading, writing and education with an estimated 24,000 people in attendance. The Orange County Children's Book Festival, entering its seventh year, is the largest all children's book festival in the United States and pulls the top children's book authors, illustrators and story tellers from around the nation. This free event, which is held at Orange Coast College, promises something for children of all ages, with many surprises in store for the audience with celebrity author and illustrator presentations, mesmerizing story tellers, a children's craft corner, musicians, dancers, readings and much, much more.

Sabori, who serves as Director of Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility for Volcom and has been a longtime Costa Mesa resident, recently wrote a children's book called, Lu and the Earth Bug Crew Zap the Energy Spikes. The book series is intended to reel children into an active and healthy lifestyle that focuses on conservation and environmentalism while being a good friend and having fun doing it. Derek will be in the RelyLocal booth, selling autographed copies of his book and educating local kids and families about how Lu and the Earth Bug Crew reduce, reuse and recycle.

"With my experience in environmental affairs at Volcom and having two young kids of my own, I really hope to teach kids with Lu and the Earth Bug Crew that it's never been so cool to be so good," Sabori says. "I want kids to understand that you're never too small to make a difference."

Co-sponsoring Lu and the Earth Bug Crew into the book festival is Locale Magazine; Orange County's premiere lifestyle publication focusing on the best of what Orange County has to offer.

"Locale Magazine is owned by a group of creative locals, so being able to be a part of the Children's Book Festival and having the ability to bring a creative, forward thinking local author like Derek Sabori into the book festival is great." says Locale Magazine President Erik Hale.
