/24-7PressRelease/ -- Remington College-Cleveland West is now enrolling students for its new Physical Therapist Assistant Degree Program. The program is designed to prepare students to practice as physical therapy assistants under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
This is a 24 month program that teaches structure and function of the human body, standard physical therapy procedures, normal and abnormal body movement, mechanical and visceral anatomy and physiology, principles of therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation techniques.
In addition to classroom instruction, students are required to complete three clinical education experiences. Students will have the opportunity to work with a licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant to practice rehabilitation techniques and apply their knowledge in a clinical setting.
After completing the program, students will be eligible to take the state board licensure exam.
"The Physical Therapist Assistant program offers an opportunity to rehabilitate career goals," said Gary Azotea, President of the Remington College-Cleveland West Campus. "This field has tremendous upside now as well as in the future."
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for physical therapy assistants is expected to grow by 29% from 2006 to 2016. An increasing elderly population, the aging baby-boomer generation and an increase in trauma survivors is expected to create a promising job market for physical therapy assistants for years to come.
Remington College-Cleveland West Campus offers several degree and diploma programs, including Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Computer and Network Administration, Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Medical Insurance and Coding and Pharmacy Technician. The campus is located at 26350 Brookpark Rd in North Olmsted.
