/24-7PressRelease/ - CHARLESTON, SC, January 30, 2008 - On Saturday, January 26, 2008, Marriott International, along with the Charleston Business Council awarded Dannette Williams, General Manager of the Renaissance Charleston Hotel-Historic District and Dora Brazelton, General Manager of Residence Inn North Charleston, the community Spirit Award on behalf of the Torch-Relay of Children's Miracle Network.

On November 1, 2007, Marriott Associates from ten Charleston area hotels, all dressed in 1920's-themed flapper costumes, gathered to walk to raise money for local Children's Hospitals. This was one of the many fundraising efforts that were recognized by the Charleston Business Council this past weekend.

Top fundraising members gathered on Saturday night to celebrate great achievements from the Charleston area Marriott business council. Among those honored was Dannette Williams, General Manager at the Renaissance Charleston Hotel Historic District. She was appropriately recognized with the Spirit Award in conjunction with a top fundraising award.

Bryan Thompson, Director of Sales and Marketing at the same Renaissance luxury Charleston hotel in Charleston, was also awarded a top fundraising award for his work at the hotel and in the community. Among the recipients of such fundraising was the Medical University of South Carolina, which received abundant support through donations from the local leg of the Children's Miracle Network's annual torch relay.

"We are not only personally honored by these recognitions," explains Williams, "but we are extremely proud that Charleston as a whole is continuing to work together to enhance the local business community. The awards are simply a great reminder that we are headed in the right direction."

Among the guests at the walk were head coach of the College of Charleston's men's basketball team, Bobby Cremins, and Ed Conroy, the head basketball coach at The Citadel, led by the West Ashley marching band.

Williams and Thompson both return to the Renaissance Charleston laden with accolades. Among them is the announcement that the downtown Charleston hotel's highly-anticipated historic, gate-themed renovation will be fully complete in February.

So, it seems, everyone has won at this, the newest upscale property in the city's oldest quarter, the legendary Renaissance Charleston Hotel.
