/24-7PressRelease/ -- Today, Rep. Diane Watson, along with other Members of Congress, presented the Distinguished Foreign Service Award to the Honorable Gregory W. Slayton for his work as the United States Senior Diplomat to Bermuda from August 2005 to August 2009.
For many years, Rep Watson has been a tireless advocate for better US/Bermuda relations. She has been a force for closer ties with the United States closest mid-Atlantic neighbor for over 20 years.
"It has been a true pleasure for me - and for many of my colleagues from both Parties - to work with Gregory Slayton on a whole range of US/Bermuda issues over the past four years," said Representative Watson. "Whatever the issue, if it was important to the United States and to Bermuda, Gregory was there to help. His ability to forge strong working relationships with all members of the Government of Bermuda and the Opposition Party - and to get so much done through those partnerships - benefited US/Bermuda relations immensely."
"It is with great pride that we convey upon Mr. Slayton this Award. It is the direct result of his four years of hard work and overarching commitment to restoring the US/Bermuda partnership to what it should be - one of the closest in the world," concluded Rep Watson.
