ST. PAUL, MN, April 28, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rep. Ron Kresha, R-Little Falls, was appointed by DFL Speaker Paul Thissen as the only House of Representatives Republican member of the Women's Economic Security Act (WESA) conference committee. Speaker Thissen chose Kresha, a small business owner, for his commitment to addressing gender pay gap and interests in improving entrepreneurial efforts of women-owned businesses.
"I'm grateful to have been named to the WESA conference committee, and to support efforts to help women and families across Minnesota succeed in today's economy," Kresha said. "Our focus should be on providing businesses and employees with clear direction on compliance and fairness, and we should strive for good policy." Kresha went on to say, "Let's create job opportunities and business growth for women, not trial lawyers."
House and Senate conferees of the WESA bill will meet in the coming days to work out differences between the two versions of the bill. The legislature has until May 19th to complete its business.
