Research Shows That Men Should Not Gamble with Valentine's Gifts
THERE are many ways to say "I love you" but men are being warned to play it safe by giving traditional tokens of affection on Valentine's Day.

LONDON, ENGLAND, February 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Roses, a beautiful bouquet, champagne and chocolate are still the best bet if you want to impress the lady in your life.

Research by online retailer Serenata Flowers has revealed that gambling with other gifts can kill any chance of romance.

Men who buy sexy lingerie for their loved ones are taking a big risk. Not only is it unlikely to fit, but it is also seen as something that men buy for their own benefit.

Practical presents are another big no-no. There is nothing romantic about a food mixer and spice racks have never been seductive. Even surprise weekends away can irritate, as many women like to pre-plan what to pack.

Peter Ahl, Managing Director of Serenata Flowers, said: "I am not surprised that traditional gifts are the best.

"You simply cannot go wrong with flowers, chocolate and champagne. We asked the women in our office and they agreed. Almost all of them said that they would love to get a dozen red roses. It's the ultimate romantic gesture."

The online flower delivery firm's dozen red roses costs GBP29.99 and is expected to be the best-seller for Valentine's Day.

But if you really want to be different, Peter suggested trying a variation on the traditional themes. Serenata says one of its best-selling bouquets, Secret Smile GBP39.99 is a surefire winner.
Serenata has also created a Cross My Heart bouquet (49.99), which includes a dozen Valentine roses mixed with other flowers.

The company is poised for one of its busiest periods of the year with both Valentine's Day and Mother's Day (March 14) imminent. Serenata delivers free and recently introduced an "avoid the school run" and Saturday morning delivery slots.

Serenata Flowers specialises in sending flowers across London and the rest of Britain six days a week. The online flower delivery company also has two sister sites specialising in online wine and chocolate delivery - SerenataWines and SerenataChocolates
