    WINNETKA, IL, May 16, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- North Shore foodies enjoy French cuisine in a contemporary presentation at Restaurant Michael (64 Green Bay Rd., Winnetka; 847-441-3100). Restaurant Michael is the creation of chef/owner Michael Lachowicz, who has built a strong culinary resume, starting at the age of three in his grandfather's little family restaurant, then at the Culinary Institute of America, and in restaurant tours under Maxime Riberra in New York and at Le Francais in Wheeling, Ill. under the direction of the famed, Jean Banchet and Roland Liccioni.

Classic haute cuisine with a French country flair
The impeccably crafted cuisine at Restaurant Michael features the freshest of ingredients, local and organic highlights, and unrivaled sauce work. A sample of Michael's delicious appetizer creations include Sauteed Medallion of Hudson Valley Foie Gras over foie gras strudel with candied huckleberries ($18); Terrine of King Crab, Tuna, Smoked and Fresh King Salmon over soft dill custard ($18); and Classic Salade Lyonnaise with baby frisee', bacon lardons and a choice of warm goat cheese or medium poached egg ($10).

Entrees feature Filet of Sea Bass in Lobster Broth with Truffle Mousse Filled Zucchini Blossom ($32); Stuffed Breast of Hen with spiced Door County cherries, Haricot Vert & natural jus ($27;) and a Trio of Slowly Braised Beef Short Rib, Filet Mignon and Wild Mushroom Ravioli sauce Chasseur ($29).

Dessert selections are many, and feature items such as the decadent Trio of Chocolate, petit fallen souffle', pot de crème and pecan-caramel tart ($10); and Panna Cotta with Lavender Scented Berries, Meyer lemon curd and tiny almond biscotti ($10).

Restaurant Michael offers a prix fixe menu, Sunday through Thursday, and offers a variety of specials throughout the year for holidays and private events. There is a notable wine list, which received a Wine Spectator award in 2007 and 2008. Chef Michael Lachowicz holds special wine dinners with select winemakers throughout the year. The restaurant is available for private functions, for special events and offers catering for occasions offsite, and in private homes.

Restaurant Michael recently introduced its "French Silver Service" prix-fixe three-course dinner menu for just $39.50 per person. It consists of a three-course selection from Michael's a la carte menu. The entire table chooses from three appetizer selections, three entree selections and two dessert selections. Each course is served tableside, and includes seasonal vegetable selections as well as creamy pomme puree and sauces. The meal begins with warm Gougeres (cheese puffs), and ends with Grand Marnier Valrhona Chocolate Truffles. The prix-fixe deal is offered Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and all members of the table must participate to take advantage of this affordable deal.

Chef Lachowicz uses traditional method and technique to perfect his culinary platform
Chef Michael Lachowicz, who has built a strong culinary resume starting at a young age in his grandfather's family restaurant, then at the Culinary Institute of America and in restaurant tours under the direction of famed chefs, leads Restaurant Michael with a careful eye and a reputation for perfection.

From his beginnings in New York City, Chef Michael Lachowicz went on to work in Lyon, France with a friend named Pierre Orsi, and then as Chef de Cuisine back home at the Highwood, Ill. restaurant, Allouette. Michael and his brother, Tommy, took a leap of faith and opened the highly regarded and awarded, Les Deux Gros, in Glen Ellyn, Ill. (1999-2007). Les Deux Gros received countless awards and accolades, including four-stars and Restaurant of the Year in 2002 from the Chicago Sun Times. They received three and a half stars and "Chef to Watch" from the Chicago Tribune, and ranked number eleven of twenty in the Top Restaurants from Chicago Magazine in 2002.

The bug to venture out on his own hit and, after Les Deux Gros, Michael opened Restaurant Michael in Winnetka, Ill. in 2005 to great praise once again. In 2008, the International Wine and Food Society of Chicago named Michael Chef of the Year for 2007-2008 during their 737th Dinner. Restaurant Michael was paired against other restaurants such as Everest and Tru, and was awarded this prestigious honor based on his outstanding vision, culinary talent and remarkable effort in the kitchen last year.
