/24-7PressRelease/ -- Vangelisti Kocher LLP has resolved a lawsuit brought in Portland, Oregon on behalf of a child who suffered second and third degree burns to the lower leg as well as burns to hand and foot. The child's guardian appointed by the court had alleged that the defendant restaurant was negligent as a busboy placed a pot of hot tea on the table within the baby's reach and the baby grabbed it, spilling the tea.
The restaurant settled the matter approximately one week before trial for $300,000.
Persons handling hot or boiling water should take extra care around a baby or child. Scores of children ages 14 and under suffer product-related burns each year from products including room heaters, humidifiers, vaporizers, hair curlers, curling irons, ovens, ranges, refrigerators, fireplaces, chimneys, furnaces, boilers, radiators, portable heaters, water heaters, candles, torches, cigarette lighters, lamps, lighting, and fireworks.
