Richard E. Peschel, MD, Ph.D., Passes his Knowledge of Radiology to Others

Dr. Peschel studied medical physics and entered medical school to deepen his knowledge



    NEW HAVEN, CT, March 04, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard E. Peschel, MD, Professor of Therapeutic Radiology of Yale-New Haven Hospital, Yale Therapeutic Radiology and Yale School of Medicine, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in radiology.

Dr. Peschel has 37 years of professional experience, with 34 years as an MD and Professor of Therapeutic Radiology of Yale-New Haven Hospital, Yale Therapeutic Radiology and Yale School of Medicine. Throughout his career, he has become proficient in the use of radioactive isotopes for cancer, specifically prostate cancer, and melanoma of the eye. Each day, he is responsible for patient care, while also teaching and working in the cancer center at Yale in the prostate and urologic cancers program.

Looking back, Dr. Peschel became involved in his profession as a graduate student in neurophysics. He did research in medical physics and then started in radiation oncology at Yale. He then became interested in medicine. He spent seven years in medical physics and then decided to go to medical school.

Dr. Peschel served as a resident in therapeutic radiology at the Yale School of Medicine in 1980, having earned an MD from Yale University in 1977 and a Ph.D., also from Yale University, in 1975. In addition to his degrees, he was board certified in therapeutic radiology in 1982. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the American Board of Radiology, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the Yale Medical Group of the Yale-New Haven Cancer Network. He has received numerous awards for his hard work and dedication, including a place among the Castle Connolly Top Doctors in Radiation Oncology New York Metro Area from 2006-2008 and 2010-2014. He has also been named as one of America's Leading Experts on Prostate Cancer (Prostatic Neoplasm) from Vitals. In the coming years, Mr. Peschel would like to find nonsurgical approaches to the treatment of melanoma, and find more successful treatments and therapies.
